Problems installing/uninstalling Windows Desktop Agent

The Windows Desktop Agent is designed to be a frictionless installation process, however, as it is built using Windows Installer technology to cater to mass deployment via Active Directory, problems can occur. Problems most commonly occur due to corruption in the Windows Installer database.

Issues have been found on some PC's whereby the install/uninstall/upgrade process may fail with the following error:

Error 1316. The specified account already exists

This is a Microsoft Windows Installer based error and not an Authlogics error. We recommend the following action to resolve the problem:

  1. Reviewing the following Microsoft "Easy Fix Solution" article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed
  2. Download and run the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab utility referenced in the above article: http://aka.ms/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
